Oxford Development Abroad
Oxford Development Abroad is a student-run charity that works to harness the energy, enthusiasm and resources of the Oxford student body to assist with small-scale, community-initiated development projects in the developing world. Its general aims are to work in partnership with communities or local NGOs in the developing world to help alleviate some of the major problems they face; to offer students from Oxford an insight into development issues through physical engagement with specific development projects in the developing world, hoping to strengthen a long term interest in development issues in our volunteers; to provide an exchange of cultural values between volunteers and host communities and to investigate the broader political economy and social context that influence development issues in the developing world and, where possible, to lobby appropriate organisations to pay attention to, and act to resolve, these problems.
