RAG Casino
The RAG Casino is a branch of Oxford RAG which aims to provide a professional casino service to colleges and societies within Oxford. As with all RAG’s activities all the proceeds go to charity.
We have now run successful college events at Jesus, Brasenose, Balliol, Merton, New, Queens, Mansfield, Regents’ Park, St Peter’s and have run the casino at many balls in Trinity 2009 including Keble, Oriel and the Oxford Union.
In just 3 years the RAG Casino has successfully provided quality entertainment and a professional service at college balls and socials and countless society events across Oxford. We offer high quality equipment and trained croupiers for a fraction of the cost of private companies.
What’s on offer:
As well as the equipment outlined below we offer volunteer croupiers in black-tie who are able to transport equipment to and from events and trained in all of the games to ensure the event runs smoothly. Not only this but our help and advice in the organisation of events means that we are able to tailor events to any requirements. We are also highly flexible, if you need anything from a single poker cloth to ball entertainment or a society event we have the equipment and experience to create a successful event. All games listed below are 36” by 72” layouts:
- Roulette: 450mm mahogany wheel, brass rake, chip carrousel, chip tray, win maker and ball (with spares). Capacity: Up to 16 players.
- Black Jack: Dealer Shoe with 6 packs of cards and chip tray. Capacity: 7 players.
- Poker (Texas Hold ‘Em): Single pack of cards and small/ big blind and dealer buttons (with spares). Capacity: Up to 10 players.
- Craps: 10 casino dice, brass rake and chip tray. Capacity: Up to 16 players.
- Numbered casino chips: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10,000.
Running the night:
For the night to be a success and to avoid the need for a gambling licence you must charge for entry to the casino, providing a set amount of chips so the chips are ‘played for fun’ rather than actually amount to cash. For example, for an event with 100 people you might charge £5 entry fee and give everyone a set of chips adding up to 250. At the end of the night chips are counted and the winners are given prizes, or a single winner can be chosen for a ‘Deal or No Deal’ cash game.

- We are considerably cheaper than any competition out there. Private companies tend to charge around double. With Oxford RAG you save on transport costs, accommodation costs and staff hire as all our croupiers are simply trained volunteers.
- We offer a friendly helpful service. As students we know that not everyone knows all the rules so we endeavour to make the playing experience enjoyable by encouraging croupiers to advise players on game rules.
- We have quality kit and plenty of chips! Although we offer a cheaper service the standard of croupier is high and the equipment is top quality.
Hire Charges:
RAG Casino is considerably cheaper than the competition. Private companies tend to charge around double.
